Kelowna is changing rapidly.
Recent provincial housing policies, including Transit-Oriented Area (TOA) legislation and Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing (SSMUH) requirements, are transforming neighbourhoods across our city. These changes will influence everything from housing density and development patterns to neighbourhood character, green space, and community identity for years to come.
Now, residents have an opportunity to share their experiences and opinions.
A University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) research project is inviting Kelowna residents to complete an anonymous survey examining how recent housing policy changes are affecting local neighbourhoods and whether residents feel they have a meaningful voice in shaping those changes. The research is being led by Hoda Pourpirali, a PhD candidate in Sustainability at UBCO.
For residents of the Heritage Conservation Area, this survey is particularly important.
The future of heritage neighbourhoods, mature tree canopies, community character, and thoughtful growth are all part of the broader conversation about how Kelowna evolves. Whether you support current policies, have concerns about their impacts, or simply want your perspective heard, participating in the survey is an opportunity to contribute to the discussion.
The survey is anonymous, and the findings will help inform future conversations about housing, planning, and community engagement in Kelowna.
